New artificial cricket wicket’s just wicked!

BUILDING on the double promotion of league sides and the development of a thriving Youth Section Barry Wanderers Cricket Club have installed a new artificial cricket wicket at their home, the picturesque Hayes Point development off Hayes Road, Sully.

The County Weave synthetic wicket supplied and installed by “sportsequip.co.uk” of Leicestershire is a significant development for the club and was supported by the Vale Centre for Voluntary Services through the Kick Start III Grant Scheme.

Club Captain and Youth team organiser James Hassett said: “This is a major step forward for the Wanderers, it will provide much improved training facilities for all our members but most importantly it will allow our younger members to train and play on a full size pitch.

“It is something we are all very excited about, without the support of the VCVS this would not have been possible. I would also like to thank Galliard, the staff at Hayes Point for their assistance, and the contractors sportsequip, in ensuring the installation of the wicket went smoothly.”

PRACTICE: Georgina Wilson-Dixon, Leon Sparkes and Louis Burrows (with bat) getting in some practice on the new wicket
