Our County Weave Cricket Carpet is the top quality knit de knit (KDK) polypropylene Wilton Woven carpet, used on both new installations or as a replacement to upgrade or regenerate any existing non-turf facility.

Reasons to choose a County Weave Cricket Carpet

  • Suitable for all new or resurfacing projects on dynamic, stone bases. For any standard of match, player and facility - any club, any school, any match wicket or practice facility will be better for having a County Weave woven carpet.
  • Non-directional pile gives realistic playing characteristics.
  • Comes with our UK manufacturers 5 year product warranty.
  • Woven cricket carpets are simply the best - the strongest, most hardwearing carpet which under normal conditions is likely to last the longest of any type of cricket carpet available, anywhere.
  • Least likely to stretch or move. The woven backing means high tensile strength, which in turn means that woven surfaces stand up best to continued use, so in high use areas, such as on batting creases and bowlers follow through impact zones a woven carpet is considerably less likely to stretch or move than any other carpet type.
  • Most spike resistant cricket surface.
  • The least expensive cost per annum of any cricket carpet type. Whilst the initial outlay may be higher, assuming normal usage and fair wear and tear, the extra durability and longevity of a County Weave carpet means that the cost per year is lower than alternative cheaper carpets.

It is, very simply, the best.

30m Cricket Carpet match wicket length is offered as standard.

Normally used in conjunction with our Cricket Shockpad (see CR510) on a dynamic stone base for the most consistent and natural playing characteristics. The pad helps to protect and stabilise the base and to minimise ongoing maintenance.

When used on well laid base and shock pad, the County Weave Carpet is the crucial component of the overall  ‘system’ and is responsive to both spin and seam bowling.  It is engineered to be low slip for safe use by all ages and standard of player.

A professional installation and fitting service is available for this product, however County Weave Cricket Carpets can also be installed on a 'Do It Yourself' basis. Our Cricket Downloads section is a great resource and includes relevant data sheets which provide further information on our full range of cricket surfaces and installation tips and techniques.

This product is manufactured for us in the UK by Playrite and comes with their standard conditional 5 year product warranty, subject to fair wear and tear, correct usage, maintenance etc.

County Weave Cricket Carpet: Questions & Answers

Why have an Artificial Cricket Pitch at all?

Well installed artificial Cricket Pitch systems offer realistic play with significantly lower maintenance costs than natural grass wickets. No covers required. The three main types of artificial cricket pitch surface are woven, tufted and needlepunch. We only supply UK manufactured carpets made for us in Yorkshire under ISO9001 and ISO14001 accredited conditions.

Why choose a woven cricket surface like County Weave?

Woven cricket surfaces are the strongest, most hardwearing carpets available. The weave into the carpet backing gives superior tensile strength when compared to any tufted or needlepunched carpet. This extra durability means that woven carpets stand up particularly well to continued, regular, long term use. In technical terms, tests have shown our woven cricket surfaces experience less than 5% wear even after 2,000 cycles. In addition, the natural open, porous make-up of this type of carpet also means that they drain exceptionally well, quickly and effectively - whereas by comparison tufted surfaces need post production drainage holes punched through their latex backing.

Will I require a shockpad?

We recommend shockpads are installed under all cricket carpets laid on dynamic stone bases. Combined they provide the best playing characteristics, prolong the lifespan of the carpet, maintain the base and provide a small degree of comfort for the players.

What about players shoe spikes?

Due to their declining use, spikes are now less of an issue. However when used, the make up and backing of a woven cricket surface means that it will puncture to contain any impacts from spikes. By contrast, a tufted cricket surface comes with a much higher risk of tearing its more rigid latex backing, and a needlepunch surface with no backing or scrim will likely rip apart if spikes are used regularly.

How do I maintain a woven cricket carpet?

No synthetic cricket surface is maintenance free and it is important to have a regime in place for your County Weave carpet, pad and base to get maximum lifespan and performance. Please see our Cricket Downloads section for our recommended maintenance advice.

Is it an all weather carpet?

Pretty much, yes. A wicket cover isn't required to make it so. The carpet and pad drain well, but more will depend on the porosity of the stone raft beneath. Of course, just because the woven carpet surface has dried, doesn't mean that the outfield will be  playable. A County Weave cricket strip will almost certainly be ready before the rest of your ground. We can't claim that County Weave is truly all-weather, because snow will on occasion settle. When this happens, we recommend not removing it in case you damage the carpet whilst doing so. However, your synthetic strip will usually thaw quicker than other hard surfaces such as tarmac and any ground frost in the natural turf outfield.

I require a length not listed, can you help?

Yes, woven cricket carpets can be made to order upon request, subject to forthcoming production runs. Please contact our sales office on 01858 545789 with your requirements.

Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Yes, not only are most competitors carpets cheaper than County Weave but our own Practice Turf, Tufted Turf, and PVC backed Practice Turf carpets are all less expensive products too. However none of the available alternative options perform better than County Weave over the long term. Please speak to our sales team to find out more.

Can I install County Weave myself, either on a new build or resurfacing project?

Yes, absolutely. You might want a second pair of hands to help because the rolls are big and heavy but see our Cricket Downloads section for information on how to do it yourself, and for installation tips and techniques.

Can I get a sample?

Yes, we are happy to provide samples to any serious potential customer. Please email us at [email protected] or contact us through our website.

Don't forget to provide us with your full postal address and let us know which products you are interested in, and we will post a sample out to you.
