Economical synthetic cricket surfaces, ideal for use in clubs, schools, colleges or even for home installations.

Tufted Turf Cricket carpets offer realistic playing characteristics when properly installed, making them a highly versatile cricket carpet solution.

Reasons to choose a Tufted Turf Cricket Carpet:

  • Economical
  • Suitable for all new wickets or cricket carpet resurfacing projects
  • Can be tensioned and pinned, or stuck down to existing concrete or macadam bases
  • Playing characteristics suit any standard of match, player and facility - clubs, schools, colleges, institutions or even at home
  • Huge range of standard sizes available
  • Non-directional pile gives realistic playing characteristics
  • Comes with our UK manufacturers 5 year product warranty

Suitable for new artificial cricket wicket installations, or for refurbishing old artificial cricket surfaces.

Our Tufted Turf Cricket Carpet is made with top quality knit de knit (KDK) polypropylene yarn 'tufted' into a backing scrim which in turn is the latex coated on the reverse to hold the tufts in place. In a separate, final manufacturing operation the latex backing is then punched to allow for drainage.

Since the reduction (and almost total elimination) of players using metal spikes, Tufted cricket carpets have become the most common type used in the UK.

Tufted cricket carpets can be used on both new installations or as a replacement to upgrade or resurface an existing strip.

The multiple size options available make Tufted Turf one of our most popular artificial grass cricket carpets.

Available in a range of standard sizes, but can be cut to any length.

A professional refurbishment, installation and fitting service is available for this product, however it can also be installed on a 'Do It Yourself' basis. More information on how to do that is available in our Cricket Downloads section. If you would like further help and advice on this please contact our Sales Office.

Our Cricket Downloads section is a great resource and includes relevant data sheets which provide further information on our full range of cricket surfaces and installation tips and techniques.

This product is manufactured for us in the UK by Playrite and comes with their standard conditional 5 year product warranty, subject to fair wear and tear, correct usage, maintenance etc.

Recommendations

We recommend Turfted Turf is used in conjunction with our Cricket Shockpad (see CR510) on a dynamic stone base for the most natural, consistent ball bounce and playing characteristics. The pad helps to protect and stabilise the sub base and to minimise maintenance.

When used on well laid base and shockpad, Tufted Turf is the tangible, visible surface part of what is an overall cricket 'system'. On a well constructed and maintained base and pad Tufted Turf's 10mm pile height becomes responsive to both spin and seam bowling. The carpet itself is engineered to be low slip – so safe for all ages and standard of player.

Tufted Turf Cricket Carpet: Common Questions and Answers

Why have an Artificial Cricket Pitch at all?

Well installed artificial Cricket Pitch systems offer realistic play with significantly lower maintenance costs than natural grass wickets. No covers required. The three main types of artificial cricket pitch surface are woven, tufted and needlepunch. We only supply UK manufactured carpets made for us in Yorkshire under ISO9001 and ISO14001 accredited conditions.

Why choose a tufted cricket surface like Tufted Turf?

Assuming that you don't have to worry about players metal spikes penetrating into the latex backing, Tufted Turf is as hard wearing as any cricket carpet. It uses exactly the same polypropylene KDK yarn as our top woven cricket surfaces. In technical terms tests have shown that Tufted Turf experiences less than 5% wear even after 2,000 cycles, the same as the woven carpet.

Will I require a shockpad?

We recommend shockpads are installed under all carpets laid on dynamic stone bases. Combined, they provide the best playing characteristics, prolong the lifespan of the carpet, maintain the base and provide a small degree of comfort for the players.

How do I maintain a tufted cricket carpet?

No synthetic surface is maintenance free and it is important to have a regime in place for your Tufted Turf carpet, pad and base to get the maximum life and performance out of it. Please see our Cricket Downloads section for our recommended maintenance advice.

Is it an all weather carpet?

Pretty much, yes. A wicket cover isn't required. The carpet and pad drain well, but more will depend on the porosity of the stone base beneath. The Tufted Carpet surface will almost certainly dry faster and be ready before the outfield. We can't claim that Tufted Turf is a truly all-weather surface though because snow will settle and we recommend not removing it in case you damage the carpet whilst doing so.

However, your synthetic cricket strip will usually thaw quicker than other hard surfaces such as tarmac and any ground frost in the natural turf outfield.

I require a length not listed, can you help?

Yes, our tufted cricket carpets are cut down from much longer 65 metre manufactured roll lengths to any full metre length you need. Usually these work out at the same pro rata m² price as the nearest standard size, but please contact our sales office on 01858 545789 with your requirements.

Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Yes, many of our competitors imported carpets are cheaper, and you will usually find out pretty quickly why if you buy one! Our own UK manufactured needle-punched Practice Turf and PVC Backed Practice Turf carpets are less expensive alternatives than Tufted Turf. If you would like advice on the options available please phone our helpful and experienced cricket specialists for a chat on 01858 545789, email us at [email protected] or contact us through our website.

Can I install Tufted Turf myself, either on a new build or resurfacing project?

Yes, absolutely. You might want a second pair of hands to help because the rolls are big and heavy. Please see our Cricket Downloads section for information on how to do it yourself, and for installation information.

Can I get a sample?

Yes, we are happy to provide samples to any serious potential customer. Please email us at [email protected] or contact us through our website.

Don't forget to provide us with your full postal address and let us know which products you are interested in, and we will post a sample out to you.
