Installation Notes

Ground conditions must always be taken into account, but a concrete block minimum 1m³ i.e. 1000mm x 1000mm and 1000mm deep should be used to hold each of the sockets in place. If required, the top of the block should finish 50-100mm below the top of the socket, adequate to allow for making good with materials to match the existing surround surface e.g. macadam, paviours, synthetic sand filled carpet etc.

The top of the socket should be aligned to finish flush with the finished surface ground level.

It is suggested that the sockets are set 5° i.e. half a bubble back on a spirit level to allow for both the movement/play between the socket and post. Tall 3m and 4m posts are also likely to bow inwards slightly when under tension. Applying the recommended slight backward lean means the top of the post is aligned to sit directly vertically over the socket when the net and cable are under tension.

The concrete must be fully cured before the divider net is fixed and the pitch/court is used.

It is recommended that the net is moved and stored away from the pitch/court for a suitable period of weeks to allow the concrete to fully cure. This removes the temptation to use them on the pitch/court.

The commonest complaint received is that the posts have moved. The stresses caused by a fully or over-wound net are huge and if the concrete has not had the opportunity to fully cure it will pull the posts in. If this occurs then there is no alternative to digging out the sockets and recasting them again.

Recommended Socketed 3m/4m Pitch Divider Post & Net Usage

Pitch Divider Systems are designed to have the wire as a permanent fixture and this should not be removed on a regular basis.

If the wire is required to be taken down, release the pressure on the wire, detach it from the anchor post, coil and tie it off, then store the wire in the pouch (if supplied) with the netting.

Always ensure that there is a padlock in use on the winder mechanism or a removable handle to prevent tampering. The braking strain of the wire and winder is far greater than the foundation strength. Over tensioning could cause damage to the groundworks.

Nets should always be pulled back when play has finished to prevent undue strain on the posts and net cable.

The netting must be retracted using a 'pull and draw' system. This is achieved by standing at the storage end of the system and by slowly pulling the net inwards until all the netting has been gathered. Do not walk with it from one end to another as this will cause the netting to become entangled and put excess stress on the clips used to suspend the netting.

Netting should be gathered and stored in a storage pouch to prevent damage.
